| Next to our Clubhouse Whaleback has a practice range for Archery, Air Guns for youth and fun Clay targets. They are accessible by car and a short walk to our Clubhouse Outfitting and locker room. These are intended for leaseholders family fun. Archery and Air Gun are at no charge. The Clay target Practice range is where Steve Schultz conducts his Classes. | SPORTING CLAYS Courses & Fee Structure | ||||||||||
| Whaleback Farm got involved in Sporting Clays early in the history of the sport in this country. After a visit to English shooting grounds in 1979 Bruce Lindsay set about learning course design and the application of shooting Sporting Clay targets for hunters on the preserve to help improve hunters accuracy. Combined with shotgun Wing Shooting lessons there is no better way for hunters to become more accurate and human in the process. The side benefit is that when played like a game of golf in a foursome for fun, It is a great family oriented Sport. Par not high score is the point. Fun social shooting is the purpose at Whaleback. We have beautifully manicured Sporting Clay Courses. | ||||||||||

| The Green Course close to our Clubhouse is an easy walk through woods and fields with ponds on the course. It is accessible by car or golf cart. This course was designed for smaller guage shotgunning enjoyment. It has ten for 50 or 100 targets. Par is 36 with a 20 gauge or 40 with a 12 gauge for 50 targets. Many 49's have been shot but no 50's. Here is a course designed for a fun target format from 14 shooting spots. For our Member-Leaseholders mid-April through October the course is set with 50 targets for the first round. The price for all Leaseholders is $20 per male adult, $10 per woman adult and free for Children 16 and under. All leaseholders receive 6 free-bee rounds of 50 for this course. We want you and your family to have fun and learn fun shooting here. Come often and enjoy this attractive and simple course with family and friends. | ||||||||||

| The Blue Course section is close to our Clubhouse and goes through fields and woods to the west. It is more challenging shooting for hunters who wish to improve and Sporting Clays Advocates. Open June to October. All Wild Wings, and Corporate Upland Leaseholders receive 4 free-bee rounds on the Blue Course as part of their lease. | ||||||||||
| The Blue course incorporates hillside with fields and trees and a longer walk to the north. Open June to October. Overlooking beautiful Canandaigua Lake from 1500 vertical feet above! This course is spectacular - 5-10 mile mountaintop views. Great for shooters. | ||||||||||

| Whaleback Farm operates a 100 target 16 station Championship course for Sporting Clays tournaments. This course was created after the Okemo Mountain design of 1991 & 1992 for hill top courses. Golf carts or walkers can easily travel the course safely. Care has been taken to preserve the natural beauty on the course and safety considerations for spectators. The course is worked on and improved annually. It may be rented for your private function with guests for up to 192 shooters maximum by special arrangements. Currently Not-for-Profit organizations hold Summer Sporting Clays events as fund-raisers. These are in August. The course may be set easy or challenging for a group event. Master class shooters have called it, "The most scenic course in the Eastern United States." As compared to golf this is The "Oak Hill" of our region. | ||||||||||
