| WINTER: The Year begins in January with winter hunting season on for Pheasants and Chukar. All winter hunting is pre-paid put and take. Quail are generally not stocked in this time frame do to New York Winters. Predator hunts may also be scheduled in winter: shotguns only. Continental Pheasant Shoots are a favorite during this season. The preserve tries to schedule one each month weather permitting as “Member-Guest” events. Leaseholders are encouraged to schedule their own private parties for continentals or cross-country skiing as the weather dictates. March is always our St. Patrick’s day Sunday event. |

| SPRING: April marks the start of our spring season. The Second Sunday also is generally the anniversary of our annual GAME DINNER. This is a wonderful family day. Trout fishing in the ponds, Sporting Clays on our easy course, and event a last opportunity for a continental often are part of this annual tradition of sharing the bounty of wild game shoot. With winter hunting ending no later than April 15th (only if the state extends the season based upon snow conditions), spring and summer non-hunting activities commence. This is the beginning of our Trout fishing and Sporting Clays season through summer and up until October 15th Annually. |

| Red Sporting Clays Course |
| We have 2 large stocked trout ponds. We stock fully-grown mature trout for our leaseholders and their guests. Each has a parking, picnic table, fireplace, and tent camping area with porta-john next to the pond for family enjoyment. Fishing is limited to daylight hours and all fishing activity requires sign in our logbooks and logging of fish caught, released, or taken for dinner. Children under 16 may use bait but artificial lures are mandatory for adults. Whaleback strongly supports fly-fishing and fly-fishing catch and release practices. In May each season we conduct a fly fishing clinic for families wishing to improve their technique. Consult our calendar for 2003 dates. |
| Two of our three 50 target Sporting Clays courses overlook Canandaigua Lake. These make up our world class tournament quality 100 Target course described by many AA Shooters as the most beautiful course in the northeast. During the summer season Whaleback hosts Leaseholder private shoots and out side organization private shoots especially as fundraisers. Our other 50-target course and our practice range are close to the Clubhouse. |
| Shotgun Wing shooting lesson are very popular in April, May, & June. Expert world-renowned instructor Steve Schultz has made Whaleback his official home grounds. We are fortunate to have such an experienced and patient teacher for our Preserve. Steve is wonderful with women and men in beginning classes. He also is a life-long pro and has practical knowledge for even the competitive Sporting Clays shooter. See his profile by clicking our link. | May 1st is the beginning of the New York State Wild Turkey Season. All hunting is morning and Tom turkey hunting only. Only 6 hunting parties are allowed on the farm on a single day during the season. All hunts are by reservation. Reservations for the season are given to leaseholders first up until April 15th after which date any non-reserved dates from our leaseholders are open to guests for overnight 2 day stays. |
| June is Family month! |
| The summer is WHALEBACK’S busiest time for upland activities with pheasant, quail, and chukar partridge stocked weekly. Continental Pheasant shoots are conducted for private parties and leaseholder-guest events. Bow & Shotgun hunting for whitetail deer is conducted from assigned reserved stands only. |
